Record of Proceedings

Millersport Village Council met in special session on Tuesday March 16, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building to award the trash contract. In attendance were President Pro Tem David Levacy, Gary Matheny, Charles Mesko, Donna Thogmartin, Shane Wise, James Wright and Assistant Fiscal Officer Vincent B. Popo. Also present were Karen Bergum, Carol King, Police Chief Randal Lewis, Police Officer Mark Consolo, Edward Grubb of Falcon Trash and John Peckscamp of Big O Refuse.  Fiscal Officer Susan Ramsey was absent.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was said and roll call was taken.

New Business

The only order of business was the awarding of the trash contract from 2010 to 2012.  Mayor’s Assistant Vincent B. Popo read a letter from Solicitor Steven Carlino verifying that the bid specs for the trash contract were legally acceptable.  The solicitor suggested that the next bid specs include a provision for the Village of Millersport to be included as an additional named insurer on the policy. Ed Grubb of Falcon Refuse and John Peckscamp of Big O Refuse each gave a short presentation on the benefits of their company before the council voted on the contract.  After a series of questions a motion to accept the Big O proposal was made by Councilwoman Donna Thogmartin and seconded by Councilman David Levacy.  The discussion revolved around service and the residents have been satisfied.  All voted yes and the motion carried 6-0.  Big O Refuse was awarded the contract for the next two years.

A motion to adjourn was made by Councilwoman Donna Thogmartin and seconded by Councilman Gary Matheny.  All voted yes and the motion carried 6-0.
